Created by man like a leisure cat, the persian has lived for a century on cushions. He doesn`t have the adventurer temperment. He is not too ambious to climb trees, wander on roof tops or to hunt. It is not that he has no courage, it is just because he is lazy and loves comfort. Don`t forget that the persian is a delicate breed of cat. Let him choose the room temperaure that is comforatable for him. If you are a person who is always cold, then it would be best if you choose a short haired cat. The persians fur is very long and thick, which causes him to always be hot. The persian is naturally exuberant. He enjoys peace and quiet and he also likes to sleep alot and to lounge around.

The persian is a cat that loves to stretch, his movements are calm and subtle. He is an ideal companion for people who are nervous and who wouldn`t be able to share their lives with a siamese cat, who are excited and also meow alot. The persian is patient and reserved and doesn`t like sudden noises. Avoid irritating him since it makes him nervous. He is a lazy, at home type of cat and appreciates quiet games, like playing with a ball or a cat toy.

Leave me alone!!!

Persians have a very delicate respiratory system compared to other breeds of cats because of their flat noses. So it is important not to tire them out with violent games. It is also important that the family members, especially the children learn about the persians character. They get along well with children, but when you think that your cat has had enough of playing, he should have a quiet corner to go to rest. Persians are also more tolerant than other breeds, they will give you plenty of signs when they are tired of playing.

Even though most cats adapt well to being left alone during the day, the persian appreciates having company. They do not like being left alone, so it would be best if you had at least two persians if you plan on being away alot or if you go to work during the day. The old saying that dogs and cats don`t get along is just a myth. They will play in harmony if you give them space.

The persians favorite place are cushions, a couch, a semi opened drawer or your bed, if you allow it. They also need daily brushings, even though they don`t enjoy being groomed, it is necesary to remove the excess fur to prevent furballs. Before being seduced by this magnificant breed of cat, you need to consider that owning a persian requires alot of time and effort for grooming. The persian may become the king of the house. Don`t forget that there are never enough cushions for him.
